Two tracks recorded sometime between 2018 and 2019. The first piece is named in honor of the canal that runs from LSU to downtown Baton Rouge. I lived in a house on East State Street for almost 10 years adjacent to this canal with all of its trash and stray cats. John Fahey's "Sunflower River Blues" inspired the title choice. I used an acoustic guitar with a contact mic, some processing in Max, and an electric guitar / metal file combo. I moved in early 2020, and made this piece a few months later for a Wumbo mixtape.

The second piece comes from a live session I did at KLSU in the winter of 2019. I did one long improv jam, and capped it with a cover of The Velvet Underground and Nico's "I'll Be Your Mirror". The title comes from the Velvets' "Rock and Roll" which, to me, signifies optimism in the face of loss.

Thanks to the boys from Wumbo for giving me the idea to make the track in the first place. And the staff at KLSU for making my live room possible. I felt like this was a heavy time in my life and it feels cathartic to have these recordings out there. The cover photograph is a tree in my backyard which is much bigger than it was a year ago.
